Character NAME: Neko.
Canon & MEDIUM: Project K (Usually just called “K”) - Anime
Canon PULL-POINT: Post Episode 13
Character AGE: 15
Character ABILITIES:
Neko displays two prominent abilities and a “sub-ability” of sorts:
Illusions: Neko is highly adept at creating very realistic illusions, ranging from elaborate environments such as cities or forests, easily fooling the five senses entirely, to manipulate others’ perceptions of time and space with great precision. Neko's illusions are realistic enough that they go as far as becoming capable of interacting with those being targeted, although their effect is minimal. Her illusions are entirely dependent on her concentration, and making her lose her focus will make them fade away; she also gets tired of repeated or excessive use of them.
- Human/cat transformation: This is perhaps Neko's strongest illusion, if it's an illusion to begin with; Neko is capable of switching forms between her usual human self and a soft pink furred small cat. She’s very nimble and quick in both forms, displaying greater agility, flexibility and reflexes than an average human, although she’s as weak as a young human girl.
Memory Manipulation: Neko has been shown to easily create/erase/manipulate the memories of others, to the point of making the entirety of a high school (and a pretty big one at that) believe that Yashiro Isana had always been a student there, even though he had been around for just a little time. Neko can manipulate other people’s memories so that as long as she’s around they will remain like that, quickly fading once she’s at a certain distance, but she can also fully change them with ease, to the point of being able to erase memories of people from a point before even meeting them. Neko is also able to return the lost memories, although this has proved to be a tiring and complicated thing to do.
Character HISTORY:
Neko on the Wiki.
Neko is a character of Project K, which comprises an anime, a couple of manga and several novels. The world of Project K is very much like our own, with the difference that there is an unknown power being wielded by several people that allow them to perform what could be considered to be “supernatural” actions. The seven leaders of the seven factions that hold these powers are called Kings. Kings form clans (although not all of them do) which they form some sort of symbiotic relationship where their clan members acquire a portion of the King’s power, although the King itself doesn't lose any power; it’s something akin to synergy.
Wait, so what about Neko?
Neko isn't part of any clan, yet she displays abilities; this makes her a “Strain”, which is the term for the rare creatures that have no affiliation to a King. Strains are incredibly rare beings, currently only being three known: Neko, another woman and a cow. Neko is the only Strain that appears in the anime though.
Basically everything about Neko's life until the moment she meets Yashiro is unknown, and Neko herself might not remember it; what’s known is that she had been living on the school as a cat, stealing food and hiding most of the time. Neko was present the moment Yashiro fell from the sky and basically fell in love with him in her own special way, declaring that she was Yashiro’s, and that Yashiro was hers in return. She manipulated the memories of everyone in the school, Yashiro included, to make them believe he had always been a student there, and went on to live with Yashiro, although without revealing her human form to him.
It wasn't until the events regarding Yashiro's video of him killing a member of HOMRA, one of the clans lead by the Third King, when she transformed in front of him, being completely naked as she usually had been so far. Neko then would go on to loyally (and selfishly) aid him, as well as Kuroh, be it to prove that Yashiro hadn't killed anyone or to keep them out of the radar of the clans looking for him. In all honesty though, Neko serves as the main and constant fanservice thorough the series, although she does make herself useful several times by hiding them from the two Kings following them.
In the finale, Neko uses he powers to let Shiro contact the entire school at once, which shows the (awfully late) beginning of her growth as a character; she passes out afterwards. Neko is the first clan member of Yashiro as the Silver King, although in his case there is no apparent power granting. She and Kuroh find Shiro's umbrella after the fight between the Third and Fourth King ends with the Third and Shiro dead and she keeps his umbrella afterwards, convinced he's still alive.
Character PERSONALITY:
Neko thinks of herself a cat that can turn into a girl, although people usually consider her a girl that can turn into a cat. Regardless of which one is correct, Neko is an incredibly selfish, self-centered, immature person; she usually puts her immediate pleasure ahead of everything, and has a childlike approach to things that is more fitting of a younger girl rather than someone her apparent age. She is usually the source of great annoyance towards more serious kinds of people, mostly because of her blatant disregard of societal norms and the fact she takes things that aren't related to her seriously. Simple things such as being constantly clothed are alien to her, since she feels like clothes constrict her movements. That and the fact she can easily turn herself invisible makes her usually prefer to be naked.
And even though, Neko is incredibly loyal towards those she likes, to the point she considers herself to be Yashiro's pet, while he is her pet in a way as well. Neko displays important character growth as she becomes more of a level headed person for the sake of Yashiro, and also Kuroh. While she doesn't look her childish ways she’s willing to put her whimsies aside for what could be considered as the greater good, even when she doesn't get any benefit of it. Neko changes her usual predisposition to run away from danger to sticking by Yashiro and suggesting him to run away when things get too dangerous, ultimately staying because that’s what he wanted.
Simplistic by nature, Neko isn't all that interested on getting to know people at first, mostly considering them either boring or simply too different to herself to even bother. Her time with Yashiro and Kuroh has given her enough experience to at least try to reach out and make some connections with others though, such as when she displayed concern over Kururi, even though she hadn't interacted directly with her. Much like a cat, Neko is highly independent, and while her loyalty is basically unbreakable, people are either “family” or “total strangers” to her. On that sense she really can’t be relied to act on other people's behalf, be it for simple of actually important things, or only perhaps with the exception of her feeling whimsical/bored/entertained enough to take action. Despite that, even in that case she wouldn't be doing it for their sake. This doesn't make her “bad” though, but she’s not the most considerate girl out there.
» EXSILIUM INFORMATION
Chosen WEAPON:
Neko's bell on her choker (as a cat, since it moves to her left ear when in human form) will become her “weapon”, and it will have the ability to entrance/dazzle others with its sound. At first, it won’t be able to do much beyond making people dizzy and make them lose their focus, but with more use it will become more potent, allowing her to subdue others and/or exert some degree of control over them. Characters with resistance to these kind of things will always require a stronger use of the bell, and some might remain immune to it. It retains its appearance and characteristics, although now it’s nearly indestructible and no matter where she leaves it (if she ever leaves it) it will ultimately come to her.
Character INVENTORY:
Neko is only bringing her clothes, which are a white fur dress and white fur boots, a black choker and a tinker bell on her left ear. She owns nothing, and if it were up to her she would be naked. She will be naked most of the time, probably.

First PERSON:
Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo? This is Neko, is someone listening? Wrong number? HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-
[ Someone without much ability with technology is fumbling with the device, sounds of grunting and fuming clear as the video function goes on and off, as well as the voice one, briefly showing bits of white and way too much skin at times.
It suddenly settles on a pair of mismatched eyes. An aquamarine and a green leaf one. ]
Is Shiro here? He had to go somewhere right? Because he said it would be okay. [ A pained frown crosses the small bit of visible face. ] I want to see Shiro! I want I want I want I waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant!!
[ The camera pans out, showing the pouting girl down to her shoulders. Her bare shoulders. This doesn't seem to concern her much, if at all. ]
If Shiro isn't here then I don’t want to be here. I don’t! I want to go away.
[ A beat, and then the pained frown comes again. ]
I’m hungry…
Third PERSON:
Neko had no idea where she was. One thing was for certain though; it was pretty ugly.
Sensing she was better off without calling too much attention to herself, she had stayed in her cat form as she surveyed her surroundings; lots and lots of dirty, old business, as well as dirty, weird people filled the streets as she jumped between rooftops , nose up and stomach growling. She had to find Shiro, or Kuroh, but specially Shiro because she hadn't seen him for longer, not to mention Kuroh was probably capable of defending himself if needed. Shiro though? He was a helpless guy, Immortal King or not. He needed her, just as much as she needed him.
She also needed food, but this was one of the weird times when her hunger was second to the well being of someone else. She had spotted (read: harassed) a couple of white haired guys, but Shiro was nowhere to be seen; she was starting to grow desperate. What if he really wasn't there? No, she couldn't tell herself that, she had to keep looking for him, no matter what-
The smell of food stopped her dead on her tracks. There, very faintly at first, but quickly growing stronger was the smell of fish. But Shiro! Well…if Shiro was truly around, he had probably tricked his way into safety already, right? And Neko reasoned she would be able to look for him faster if she had her belly full. A girl needs to eat too! Surely Shiro would understand, yeah. Her mind made in no time, Neko gracefully jumped down the building she was perched upon, softly landing on a pile of rubbish before making her way to the ground, quickly darting through the people passing by and towards the unsuspecting fish merchant. Two minutes later a huge racket started when Neko made her way out, a big, fat fish safely secured in her little fangs and a big, fat and incredibly pissed of man chased her with a huge knife.
But she had food now! At least this way she would attract enough attention to herself and make it easier for Shiro to find her, she thought. This place wasn’t all that bad, perhaps.
» ADDITIONAL NOTES
Neko is probably going to be naked or semi-naked a lot of times. Just felt like saying that.
